ABOUT US

Fry Farm is owned and operated by the Fry family.  Our family has been gardening and growing food for decades, and our passion for producing and eating local, organically grown fruits and vegetables drove us to make our products available to the public.  We find great joy in providing fresh produce to our customers and that drives our success.  We have built strong relationships with our customers and they trust us as their farmer.  We feel a personal responsibility to provide the highest quality products to our customers. 

Growing Practices

We never use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or GMO seed to grow our produce.  Our farm is inspected and certified under the Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) program and our letter of certification can be found at the bottom of this page.  We believe that growing fruits and vegetables naturally ensures the safety of our produce and it tastes better too! 

Soil

We believe in growing our soil first and foremost.  All of our soil amendments are from natural and sustainable sources.  We NEVER use synthetic and/or chemical fertilizers.

Seed

We only use trusted sources to obtain untreated and organic seed.

Irrigation

We consider ourselves "dryland" farmers, meaning rainwater is the main source of irrigation.  We use minimal amounts of supplemental watering from a well on site.  Healthy soil that is rich with mircobes allow plants to thrive in dry conditions.  Also, these conditions increase flavor and nutrients of our fruits and vegetables.  Studies have shown plants that thrive in stressful conditions produce more "phyto-nutrients" than those that are grown with conventional irrigation. 

Pest Control

We NEVER use synthetic or chemical pesticides.  Although insects can be destructive, we believe that keeping the "good bugs" including predatory and pollinating insects is equally as important as controlling the "bad bugs."  When we have a potential devastating pest issue, we use only natural and organic control methods as a last resort. 

Harvesting

Most of our produce is harvested within 24 hours of reaching our customers.  We carefully harvest and inspect everything by hand, ensuring the best quality.  When applicable, our produce is rinsed with clean well water, packed, and placed in sterile containers.
